Volt

The new 2011 Chevy Volt is a very versatile vehicle. It runs on a pure electric charge (emissions free) for the first 40 miles, then switches to a range-extending gas generator that continues to power the vehicle. If you'd rather not use petroleum based fuel, this vehicle can also run on biofuel E85 ethanol.
GM estimates that the average commute is less than 40 miles a day. If the average work week is 5 days, and the cost to charge the vehicle averages 12 cents per kilowatt hour, this brings the average yearly cost to propel the vehicle to somewhere in the vicinity of $250, or you could also figure it at $1 a day.
GM has created some significant advantages for future Volt owners!
